1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
I can't really think of anything.... No, I started a clothing buisness that's actually getting orders and selling things. And I began to learn blacksmithing.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Made none.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Umm, long story.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year, thankfully. Unless you count the barn in my grandmother's yard. It is no more. **weeps** I miiss that place, it was my favourite place to hide. And it had a ghost, who is no longer there. All the memories fell out when the roof fell.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, but I've read ehough to have been in medieval England....
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
More Albany. A better school. (ok, so this really only pertains to the second half of the year, but at this point years begin and end in a more academic fashion, not in December.)
7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Quite possibly the Feb 15th protest against the war in NYC. It was big and impressive and ultimately terrifying at points. I dislike overly aggressive police and being attacked by men on scared horses.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Transferred schools, trying to get a better degree and successfully getting in on the virtue of my artistic talent.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Actually going to said new school, and realizing that it really wasn't what I wanted at all. And interpersonal relationship things.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really, just that evil flu that everyone around me had in November. And the bronchial pneumonia in May. During finals, of course.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My wardrobe. It still needs to be fixed, but damn it's pretty. And it was five dollars at an antique store. Probably because it's so very rough.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Remy has put up with my worst moments since I was a suicidal little chit several years ago. Albany Sarah has continued to find new and interesting ways to fix the fragile bits of herself, and this is never easy to do. And she stayed in contact with us even after she said she couldn't with us so far away.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Humanity in general. America as a whole and particularly her government. Is it really necessary to be so pointlessly rude and intrusive? It's just not *done*.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Money? When I had it, books, many of those being for school or medieval costuming, and fabric.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Transferring to New Paltz. Learning to blacksmith.
16. What song will always remind you of 2003
Voltaire--USS Make Shit Up
Voltaire--Anniversary
Young Dubliners--Carry me up to Carlow
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Sadder, for the moment. But things are looking up..
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer. And poorer than that.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
spoken my mind. travelled. worked, at a job that gives money enough to live on. Finishing sewing projects, rather than finding new ones with the old half-finished.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Studied? I like it, but it's getting in the way. Bitched.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I don't know? At Remy's parents' house with his grandmother. She scares me.
21. What happened to question 21?
In earlier incarnations of this survey, there were 39 questions, and 21 was what is in this one 22.
22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
Not for new, but for again, and still.
23. How many one-night stands?
None. Again. I like this.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Dead Like Me. Is so sarcastic! and has Mandy Patinkin, who is much taller than I thought he was. Remy points out that it's really just because in the Princess Bride he was always next to Andre the Giant.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not precisely hate, no.
26. What was the best book you read?
Canturbury Tales, Beowulf, John Gardner's Grendel, more Young Wizards series. Princess of Mars was not a *good* book, but it was greatly enjoyable.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Voltaire. Bright Eyes. It's really hard to remember what I was listening to last year as opposed to this, it's all the same thing. The past is not divisible by specific times.
28. What did you want and get?
Transfer into the Fine Art department?
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
That was from this year, and not on video? Pirates of the Carribean. Finding Nemo--hey, it's Pixar, that's not *really* Dizney.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
No idea. I was 25. I think we did a big round nothing.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Enough money to live on. Money in general, and not borrowed. more frequent access to laundry machines.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
If it's black, no one will notice it looks exactly like everything else I own. Or that I wore it only a couple days ago. Also add some medieval dresses for colour.
34. What kept you sane?
Remy. Schoolwork, and not being in the house all fecking day long.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Do not know. Johnny Depp in eyeliner but not the younger fellow, and Alan Cummings. And Neil Gaiman.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
One? Pretty much anything this admin has pulled off, and the few things they havne't.
37. Who did you miss?
Kat, Gabe, Avery, Dave, Sarah, Dennis, Andrea, Greg, Jen, Sarah, Jeremy, Argus
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Cheryll, Jenna, Prof Olsen, Alicia
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003:
You can always turn back and undo mistakes.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Umm..... "You can always go home, you just can't stay."
