The professor that tought Middle English has left the college and is now teaching in Geneva. *pouts*

So I guess it's Latin after all....

You know, I really wanted to learn Middle English, it sounds do much more interesting than the (more useful) Latin classes. I mean, I already can read it. It sounds lovely, and it reminds me of childhood, and for doing a medieval studies thing, what could have been better? ok, so really Latin would. It's far more relevant to more areas. But damn it, I love Middle English literature! And it would have rocked to have read Sir Gawain without a translation.

Middle English is fine, but Old English really rocks! Much more complex, with grammatical case and whatnot. Do you have the opportunity to take that? Nothing in the world like reading Beowulf in the original!

(Followed your link from Victorian BDSM post; am a language geek so had to comment)

Unfortunately, they were both tought by the same professor. **whinges** Because I had thought about that as well, despite the fact that ME is a little closer to the period I'm studying most.
