So Remy showed me the post on Angle-Grinder Man, who is a freak. And I bought almost the last of mey textbooks. It is the last of the large expensive ones, at least. I am pleased. I had to get it new, seeing as the used ones were horiffically shabby. Torn covers, bent pages, hideously marked up.... This one is mice and new and clean, and came with a lovely CD Rom that has all sorts of old music and poetry being read in the language and accents of the time as near as we can come, and covers not only the time of the second volume that I bought, but also the first, whose CD I really wanted. So it's got people reading in Old English nad Middle English, and Seamus Heaney reading his translation of Beowulf. I had so coveted this. I love hearing Middle English, it's so oddly pretty in that German and French and Latin at the same time sort of way. And it makes me thing of my father, who used to read to me in Middle English.

Of course, this would all be so much better if my computer would recognise my disk drive. *snark*

It's been on this long descent into not recognising anything for the longest time now, and I think it's finally going. I have to get a new OS, prefferably one that won't make my poor computer crash all the time. It's a bit outdated, but you know, it was practically free, being Frankensteined out of leftovers from my ex's computer when he rebuilt his. SO I cna't really complain, having only paid for the case. But it needs so many upgrades. Wonder if I can do that and still keep her personality? I like her. We have an understanding of sorts.... But I really thing XP is a little too big and new for her. Eventually she'll be going Linux, and then I'll have to learn how to coddle her myself. And am I the only person that noticed that this is Windows Christ? XP is his monogram, Chi-Rho. Billy boy is getting a little too full of himself, I think. This is *not* Christ, this is the Anti-Duck.

And I've begun working on the costume for this Halloween. I have the mask all shaped, it's a fox. I'm going as a Kitsune, kimono and all. The mask is cardboard, with a nose built out of newsprint and masking tape, covered with newsprint and glue. So like papier-mache, but not quite. It will be covered with white fur (it's all I have) and possibly painted with watercolours or something. Anyone who saw Kevin's wolf mask from the year before last knows what I'm capable of, it actually looked like a wolf's head. I need a long black wig, though. Later. I have to start on the kimono soon, and I want a second layer to it. It's going to be acid green, hand painted, and the under layer in crimson. I have seen various documents saying this is an authentic combination, but it's generally for spring. Eh. I don't care. I havne't decided yet on a tail, probably not. I don't have anything good for a fox's tail.

Elizabeth should be here soon, and I can't wait!
