New Paltz offers a class on Chemistry in art as one of their Gen Eds. I think I might very well be pleased.

I got my award letter today, the "How much money would you like this year?" variety. And It appears that I have the option of turning down a great deal, or accepting all of it, and then paying for rent and such out of that, and paying it back in several years. So far my loans are really small, about 1 or 2 thousand, and I think I'd like to keep them smaller like that. But the estimated Pell and TAP are huge enough to cover the tuituion and a little extra (ok, not so very little, it's over a thousand dollars over the cost per semester. Which will most likely just cover the tools and equipment I'll need, so maybe accept one loan? I don't know.

Looked at the metals offerings, and found that there isn't much. after the basics, there are two other classes, and the two senior semesters. Actually this may be a good thing, as if I take one of the courses over the summer, if possible, then I could possibly graduate on time and still take other classes. Like copious art history. (Why do I do this to myself? I know what I"m like when I take such classes, and I'm sure it annoys everyone else. Unfortunately, the beginning metals classes seem to have waiting lists. Snark.

It is, I'm thinking of double majoring in that as well. And it's something I love dearly and can absorb quickly.

Aristotle said that the happiness that comes freom study is the highest human purpose. I see evidence of this everytime I get a class catalog. It's kinda like Christmas s for small children.

Oh, how I do concur. Even if it does make my brain hurt terribly at teh end of the semester.... Now, why can't we learn without tests and suchlike? Those always seemed so very counterproductive. I'm not going to remember half of what I learned in most of the classes, except for art history.... Go figure.
