Our posessed house
Jan. 19th, 2003 06:23 pmOk, so last monthe we had an empty glass sitting on top of our refrigerator. We don't have much by way of counter space (any, really) and it was a flat place to put it on before the washing we never got around to. And then one night I heard a crash, and decided I didn't want to know. In the morning, the glass was shattered in the middle of the floor. I havne't yet come up with any rational, scientific ansewr that doesn't defy my limited knowledge of physics, except for ghosts. And then it never happened again, so I didn't much think about it after cleaning up the shards. All of them.
My mother gave us some red-pepper hummus and preserved cheries from this place she goes to in Vermont during the summer. They didn't fit in the cupboard, so we put them (where else?) on the refrigerator. They were also some of the heaviest objects there, aside from maybe the lamp. So then today, another crash. Go figure. Nothing on the fridge was moved, aside from the food, which was in the middle of the floor. A good two feet from the refrigerator. The hummus broke, which was, of course, the thing I was most looking forward to having. Grrrr. And then a little farther towards the middle was more of the glass from last month. It hadn't been there this morning. I really don't get this at all. These things should not be able to fly like that, and shouldn't the lighter things have moved first? Yes, I'm really quite certain at this point that it is ghosts, as nothing else makes any sense.

Date: 2003-01-19 07:32 pm (UTC)as far as ghosts go ours was out doing its thing last night too. it was bugging the cat and generally making its presence known. today our house smelled of cigarettes when noone was here or around smoke. i checked the video camera and noone not us had been here while we were gone. since ghosts can offer an olfactory presence maybe it was our ghost too? who knows. our house has other people in it and they go bump in the night...
