The Well of Lost Plots, Jasper Fforde

Third of the Thirsday Next books, and much like the others, it's full of literary silly, and in jokes, and trouble. The mispeling vyrus results in things that look like Varizo's posts, for anyone familiar with those in a.g. and other such use-netty places. It also makes the inner lives of books that much more ... strange. Mis Havisham's fate was truly unfair, though.

It kept the pace nice and fast, which, when dealing with brain candy, is probably a good thing, though it did make it rather hard to put it down and go back to work after a nice break from reality.

I think his books have become some of my favorite new "entertaining escapism". I really have to get the most recent one that just came out.

New new? like a fifth? Because I would love that. Especially seeing as I've now devoured all the ones that I have, and need more candy.

SQUEEEEE!

Wantses it now ... what's this with all the good books coming out this year? Two from DeLint, the last Potter book ... I'm going to die. Or rather, my wallet will.

I love your book reviews. I think I will use them as guidance if I ever suddenly come upon a time glut and have to fill the void with novel reading! *The scandal! It will overheat my feminine brain and make me one of those reckless and abandoned wretches!*

**laughs** well, that's sort of the point now, isn't it? I post them so people will know what is good to read. So far, I've been lucky in my choices. Mostly.

And there's nothing wrong with novels sometimes. especially these. they're guilty, but not *too* guilty -- more like eating one yummy truffle and a handful of nuts (mmm, hazelnuts) as opposed to eating a whole chocolate cake (which would be, I don't know, chick lit?).

And what's wrong with being reckless and abandoned, I'd like to know? :P
