stuff and whatnot
Mar. 13th, 2007 08:21 pmSo there had been spiderwabs under the cabinets in teh kitchen. Since thigns were getting cleaned out, it seemed like a find idea to get rid of those, as they were not the pretty webs we have on the ceiling. Also, they just get dirty down by the floor.
As I was pulling them out, I found a spider. Common sense would say that there would be one, right? Bah. Fortunately I was cleaning them out with an envelope (I can't stand the feel of spiderwebs for some reason) because it was, of course, a black widow. What else would it have been? I jumped, she hid, I tried to get her out with a feather duster and that really just didn't work. At all. people wanted to kill her, I said no (I play with thread for a living, and am rather superstitious, and that just seems like begging for trouble, and ill-fortune with the work stuff) and so, with the help of a small mirror from a pawder compact, I found her. She wasn't as large as my initial shock had painted her, being only anout an inch and a half long from leg tip to leg tip, but really, that's quite big enough, thanks. There were also a few roaches in there, quite dead as they should have been. Eww, none the less. With a large spoon I chaser her into a corner and it looked like she was trying to bite the spoon -- no luck there. She curled into a little ball, and I dropped her into the waiting jar and brought her outside where it is full of bugs and generally safer for everyone involved. But now I still feel webs and little itchy things, and am for some reason insensibly afraid that her little cousins will come to avenge her exile. Or something. Not really. I wonder how long she'd been there? It was quite the extensive web, and she wasn't all that small. I should have got a photo, but wasn't really thinking about anything other than keeping her Not On Me or the Cats.
Also, I sent in copies of the sketches for Convergence, and the organiser for it is *quite* pleased with them. This makes me unreasonably happy. It's mostly unifiedish, though perhaps there should have been, instead of four 18th century and two Victorian, either half and half, or all 18th? I don't know. It's oddly colourful for a goth show, but I really don't much care. :)
