I have finished the new 14th century chemise, except for the neckline, which is pinned but not sewn because my needles are downstairs and I'm lazy. And I started the 18th century one. I have to hem it, and decide exactly how I'm doing the sleeve ends and the neck. I think the sleeves will be a set width at the bottom, and the neck will be a little gathered before I put on the casing for the sdjusting ribbon. If it needs trim, I'll probably do some tatting for it. Very period, simple trim that. I might do some for the sleeves, or I might leave the whole thing plain and save the tatting for a much thinner linen fabric, instead of cotton muslin. And I figured out how to do underarm gussets the right way! Another thing my mother dind't teach me, in addition to setting sleeves neatly, and lining things. I
ll have to bring these up with me, so I can show her that I"m actually not that bad at sewing. She says I"m not professional enough.... Heh. I'll wear the red dress to Turkey Day dinner. That one looks rather awesome, if I do say so....
And it got me something like a possible order from a girl in class! She liked it so much she wanted to know where I got it--and then if I could make her one, and sell to some of her friends as well. :) I said about 75 for a cotton one like it, without embroidery. Because they're *easy*. Yay me!
