You'd think that on a four day weekend I'd get homework done, right? No. I did a little reading in Starmaker, but nothing more tham that. I feel I know my English Lit 1 texts well enough to be tested on them, and I can write a one page paper for art history in the week I have until my next class without any problems at all. For seafaring, I have a few sentences to write, which can be finished in about 15 minutes.

So instead I made clothing. This seemed, for some obscure reason, to be a good idea. I had some wool, and a pattern for a riding habit, and of course, the pattern was tiny. So when I enlarged it, it came out a little wrong, but after some adjustments it looks quite good. And it will probably look better when I finish the corset I'm working on now, of the 18th century variety. Sooner or later I'll actually finish it. The habit is from the 1730s, cranberry wool with black velvet cuffs and collar, and several large velvet buttons made by covering other buttons of the right size but a hideous color with more velvet. And sooner or later, I'm goign to finish the black wool dress and a petticoat so I'll be nice and warm this winter. The corset is canvas and black twill, covered in black linen, strapless, and halfboned. Which is to say, compared with the full boned corsets of the era, it won't stand up by itself or deflect bullets, but it will be a nice shape. And will be cooler and more comfortable. And cable ties make great cheap bones. And I want a nice cocked hat now, to go with my coat.... It's so thick and warm, I love it already. It still has to be lined, though.

Someday I swear I'll have to post some of the finished products I've done.... So now I have to hunt down linings, and the other things I shoudl have finished. And perhaps make the Halloween costume I've been putting off. Two kimonos, one acid gree, the other under it, bright red, and a fox mask. Unfortunately, all my white fur is fucked up after the flood, of course.
