deliriumcrowYup. I joined SOS_USA too.... It seemed like a good idea.
It's good way to combat my biggest crime--that being hiding from the world in general, from the news, from any knowledge of how we fuck each other over as a matter of course. It's time to be an active member of society, and try to actually change it. I bitch about everyone's apathy, and while I do care, in terms of participation, I'm just as guilty. Caring does nothing if you don't act on it. I'm not really sure what to do at this point, it may well be too late. Or it isn't--Im still alive. Before doing anything, though, I have to know what's going on. That's step one.
In other news, the paper I was so worried about, the one on the fairy tales that disagreed so strongly with the professor's views, was finally returned. I got an A! **bouncebouncebounce** She said it was an intelligent and articulate defense of fairy tales, but said that I pay too little mind to the arguments against them, and should have mentioned how children get the fairy tales.... I don't know how they get them. In the first grade we watched films of Jorinda and Jordingel, and the Lorax, and they read stories to us every time the class was sent to the library (two or three times a week) but I don't know how common that is. They've always just been there, I think. As to the arguments against them, I could have addressed them in a longer paper, but that was well out of the scope of this paper, and the page limit. Almost makes me want to be a folklorist....
And I have to take several rolls of film this weekend, because I hate pretty much all that I've shot so far. It's not working at all, for the intention of the final. Some of them are fine pictures on their own, but none of them seem to be doing anything useful. I'm running out of time. And paper. Grr. Time to order more now....
