Ok, so I'm in the Middle English course. And here's the list of courses I"m in or almost in so far:

the aforementioned Middle English.
Intermediate French
England to 1485
Western art part 1
Gothic art
Baroque and Ren art

And trying to get into Medieval women.

This means I have to drop something, if I get the course I really want. But what? There comes a point when I can't get full refunds on the books. And it's pretty soon. I don't have the book for the Western art course or the Middle English. French was over a hundred, and I only got the two of greatest importance. Middle English I have to keep, because it applies directly to my major. And they don't offer it at Albany. French I can take wherever. Western art is offered at Albany by the Medieval historian. French might well be the most expensive as well. Of course, I also don't know if I'll get into the Medieval women course. She offers no promises, and I won't have an idea until Monday, or even later. I *have* to know by the beginning of February.

Also, when looking at the books required for one of the art courses, I noticed that one of them is a new edition. This wouldn't be a problem, were it not for one detail.

I bought the old one last semester.

He said last semester that I could use this one, but thsi appears to be a newer, shinier edition with coloured pictures in it. Which is good for art books. But it's also bloody expensive, and there's not a good chance of getting money back for the old edition, considering that it's now out of date. I really hope he'll understand. I simply can't afford it this semester. I've spent almost 400 on books as of today, and I'm not done yet. This is to say, two more classes yet to buy for. Both with big books. One is the Riverside Chaucer, which I've been warned is about 80, and a few other books as well. We get to translate it ourselves, from what I understand.

The one good thing out of this. The professor of Middle English said that he'd accept me, despite my not being a senior, on the reccomendation of recieving an A in Professor Olsen's class last semester. And the fact that I now have a pretty extensive background in the Middle Ages, which will possibly be of just as much use as knowing how to read literature with sophistication.
