So I finished all of Transmet yesterday. From somewhere before the middle, I think. Took a total of three days to read the whole series from the beginning. So yeah. It was quite possibly the best series I've ever seen, though its level of -- is prophecy the right word? -- is disturbing. Highly. It's like a hyperbolic version of our own world. And it's emotionally draining. During the college protest scenes there was a frame that looked like it was taken directly from the Kent State riots. I had more to say about it, but I really don't have words for it now. Oh yes, I'm allowing Remy to call me his filthy assistant, and he says I'm starting to look like Yelena. I disagree. Anyway.
I stole this link from
thebigfatman. It's some sketches done by an artist in the 1950s in some LSD testing, progresisng from just before the onset of the drug into its more advanced forms. It kind of looks liek once he figured out how to use the medium through the drugs he got quite good, as it's pretty much the later images that are most impressive. But really, I can't imagine that would be the most amusing trip, seeing as he was stuck in one room with an undrugged doctor, and he had to draw the whole time. Which would be fine if that's what you want to do, but somehow I think that doing it for scientific research would take out some of the fun. Maybe not, I have never tripped for science. Perhaps I should try it sometime. Though I think I shall find a more attractive subject.
Also I just had to scream at my brother once again for using the term gay as a generic insult. I really do hate that, being rather not straight myself. And being romanticly entangled with a man who is not straight and of sometimes dubious pure-whiteness. And as most of my friends are various degrees of not straight, and some of them even have limp wrists. Which he picked out as being a specific exemple of people one may insult by calling gay. Sometimes the boy just really needs to be throtlted. Fucking Cracker-Nazi. Yes, I am goign to try to investigate my family history and prove that we are somehow a product of race-mixing. We've been in the country long enough that shouldn't be hard. Something like over a hundred years here and chances are you're not just white anymore? Well, we've been here for 300 in some branches. And lived in various degrees of frontier, so yeah. Probably. That should deflate him a little. And now I'm rabid again. Little bastard.
