My mother's Christmas present from last year is done. I lost the knives for it for a while, so I couldn't do much. But she is done, and terribly cute. I was seriously considering keeping her for myself, but Mom already knows about her. So. Everything is more or less *a* period, just not all the same. The construction is 18th century, the proportions are sort of early-mid-19th century, the dress is 1830s ish, the fabric print is old. The lace was my great grandmother's and probably dates to the early 20th century. She is pine painted in acrylic, mohair wig, and cotton upper arms. The chemise was a bitch, sewing such tiny seams on fabric so delicate is never fun. And hemming is less so. The leg joints are done with copper wire, and she makes this funny clacking sound when picked up, but she sits and is very pretty in her very tight little dress. I am imordinately pleased with myself.

And this is the final result. )
