So Remy just sent me an article, about the new revised history of Mary Magdalene. She's always been a bit of a fovourite, even in a religion I don't particularly care for. I do'nt know, I suppose I need in religion a balance between the male and female aspects, and the female has come down so garbled and subjugated in the current incarnations of Yahweh based traditions.
here is the article.Elaine Pagels is mentioned in it, specifically her book on Thomas. That was an awesome lecture, too. But it really does please me that Mary is getting more attention, she was one of the most interesting characters I can ever remember readong about. It says in the article that she was declared a prostitute in teh 6th century by Pope Gregoory the Great, but that was corrected in the 1960s, though no one seems to remember that.
And for those who want to read her gospel, it's online.
