Sep. 24th, 2003 12:00 amIn looking for good 18th century costume bits, I found this link:
http://www.infopt.demon.co.uk/eighteen.htm
Basicly, it's the history of homosexuality in 18th century Engalnd through transcripts of trials, articles, poetry, and other primary sources. This should really make its way to Jeremy as well, I think our dirty little history boi might be amused by it....
And Sarah, there is a movie called Mesmer, starring Alan Rickman as Mesmer himself.
And more pieces of embroidery that I could ever hope of reproducing, and all so very pretty.... There are very good reasons that I haven't made a proper 18th c court suit yet, and the same justify my not doing it for a long time to come. At least not until I can afford the pieces, and have an entire summer to devote to sewing. Even still, it will take me years.... Quite fortunately, no matter how long it takes, it will still be out of date. Oh yes, and the dress I saw for myself with the so few trimmings on it and the simple cut? It's the uber-formal French court style. Figures. I don't know, I'll just call it a Robe a la Allemande, or something....
