Apr. 3rd, 2003 08:44 pmEveryone else is doing it, and since I'm such a trend follower....
What does your first name mean?
pure (pure what, though?)
What does your middle name mean?
consecrated to God (which one? don't know yet.)
What does your last name mean?
shepherd (I think, it could be sheep)
So what does your name mean when put together?
the pure and holy shepherd
What would you have been named if you were the opposite gender?
Thaadeus Augustus. It was also being considered for my brother. We're both much happier this way.
Any other name oddities?
Katy, various odd spellings of Cate (which everyone insists on spelling with a K, and a long lost penchant for changing it to other things like Rhiannon when there are too many Kates/Kats/Catherines about. And they were considering Cassandra Cerise, which I like, and Gwynydd (it's said like Gwyneth, for you non-Welsh folk). My grandmother vetoed that, saying she knew a Gwendolyn in college and hated her, and the name was too similar for her tastes. Pah. I would have liked having a name without vowels, and a good bloody reason for misspellings.
Do you like your name?
Sometimes. Not really. But I can't think of anything to change it to, so it stays.
What do you like best about it?
It's pretty, and sounds a little archaicly artsy, or something. Very simmple. Or regal, if I use the whole thing.
What do you like least about it?
too common. and people can't spell it right. Do you know how many spellings there are of Catherine?
If you HAD to change your name (witness protection program, whatever), what would you want it to be?
Gwynydd? No, probably Rowan. It's also simple, and non gender specific, despite common use as a boy's name. And it's a good, useful, protective tree. Very powerful magically, according to old Celtic traditions.
