Photo Stuff
Feb. 7th, 2003 08:12 pmSo since Remy had to stay late at work tonight, I decided to play in the photo lab at school and get some of the rolls from break developed. I actually only managed to get one done, as I have to do them separately being different speeds and needing to be pushed and whatnot.... But the one I did had the shots I took in Rochester on it, including the one really really cool shot down a snowy alley in the dark (they're all night shots) with steam rising across it from a vent in the wall. There's a door at the far end, and it's closed off with this huge iron filigree gate, with a deco medallion over it. The whole thing was from beside a lovely 1920s movie theater, all shiny black and chrome. I didn't realize that I'd spent 14 shots on it.... All of it experimenting, hoping that at least one would come out. It looks like they all did, to varying degrees. I won't know until I do the contact sheets, but it's hopeful. Hooray! The rest of the shota are all trees, during a snowstorm, in a park. I tried to get the crows in some, but since it was night, and crows are black, I don't think even the fairly bright snowstorm sky was enough to contrast them well. Eh, I'll find out soon. The contrast on most of them looks like it will be really good, and nicely detailed. Avery will be so proud, I think.... And if I'm not mistaken, this is the first nighttime photography I've done, where the roll wasn't destroyed before I had a chance to see it. I don't know what's on the second roll, I've completely forgotten. I think it's more of the same snowstorm in Troy, but will have to be pushed a *lot* because of the film I used.... But as I recall, there were some nifty shots of snow and curley 19th century ironwork.
But this roll pleases me greatly. Can't wait to print it....
In other news, I'm hoping that Avery will give me some idea of what he wants to do when we meet up, so I can tell people what we're doing that weekend. Gah! Too much stuff to plan and too many people in it! Ultimately, he is the most important aspect of that weekend and things can be planned around him because it's been *way* too long since seeing him, but I want to save the world too....
