So I just finished making the pieces for a new doll, this one white sculpey. She looks like a Modigliani elf, with that long, serpentine neck, and oddly shaped face. She;s very small, but I like her. She might very well make a good cast as well, which would be nice. I haven't made any people in ages, just sketches, and it's kinda neat to see what happens after taking a semester of lifedrawing, knowing better now how the body fits together. So while she is still abstracted, it looks so much better this time. I know what I changed in her proportions, and I know why I did it. She looks odd, not like a person at all, with hands like calla lilies, and feet stretched and without details. (my real reason for doing that is that I hate doing hands. The fingers never looks right, and they break and chip, and just never bend where they should. So I think I"m going to stop doing them, and just make girls with flower-hands.)So my goals for the flower-girl are more or less as follows:
paint and seal
make a cast, preferably not in plaster. It never works right for me.
body
wig and costume

More than likely I'll be posting photos of her at some point. And perhaps in a while I'll start trying to sell them around the hippie-ish stores and occulty-bits places. And some very small fairies as well. because I like making them, and it's more fun than going to a real job. Yes, this is what I shall do, this is how I shall support myself....
