(no subject)

I am, I think, the only person I know who would decide that a heavy, thick black woolen gown is a good thing to make for a winter dress. With petticoats, of course. Maybe a flannel one for good measure. And I am also the only person I know who would decide that a good idea in this same black woolen dress would be to incorporate a mild Elizabethan corset into the bodice of it. Somehow, as I think about it, it seems less and less wise fro everyday wear. (When has that ever stopped me?)

It's cold in here. No, it's fucking cold. I went into the back room where the sewing machine is, and now my hands are numb. NiMo never bothered to turn on our gas fro heat, and it's never been a problem up until now. Not much, anyway. the computer room is marginally warmer than the rest of the house, but not by much. Oh well, at least mine won't ever threaten to overheat in this weather. Bah. It can be spring now. except then I wouldn't get to wear the dress until next year. But you know, I think I'd live. The saddest thing is, I *like* the cold. I love the snow. But this--this is too much by far. If I cna't feel my hands moving as I type, then there's a problem. I'm not entirely sure how it's working at this point, possibly muscle memory, or more likely will.

I'm beginning to regret going for an art major, simply because it costs so very much. I'm just in two classes, and I had a bunch of stuff already. You wouldn't think that a drawing class and one in 2 Dimensional design would cost so much. But the supply list for the 2D class was LONG. So all told, it was well over a hundred dollars. But I have all sorts of things I needed anyway. I mean I didn't *have* to get the full set of brushes, and probably shouldn't have, cheap as they were. In art supplies, you really do get what you pay for. They don't seem that bad though, and I've gotten brushes from this company before and liked them. So I have a fanbrush now! yay! and a whole bunch of acrylic paints, which I needed for a painting anyway, and since I was ordered to get the good paints, I had no excuse not to. No more trying to get good tones out of crappy paints! Maybe I'll actually finish the painting I was working on now....

Bother. I'm still cold. Must remember to call NiMo tomorrow....
